Many people wonder who we are, where we stand, and what we do. Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions about Libertarians and Libertarianism.
While I agree with a lot of your ideas, I'm not a fan of Political Parties; why should I join the Libertarian Party?
Like it or not, our political system is currently base on political parties. Many Libertarians would like to do away with the party system and open up elections so voters have more options and more freedom. However, as it currently stands, working through the Libertarian Party is the best step for meaningful change. By casting votes for the older parties, you only embolden the status-quo. You strengthen political extremes but when you support Libertarians, you chip away at the two-party duopoly and help create a new system where Mississippians have more options at the ballot box.
I plan on voting Libertarian, but why should I become a dues-paying Member?
Voting is very important and helpful. However, it takes a party infrastructure to recruit, train, and support candidates. Unfortunately, doing so requires money. As a member of the MS Libertarian Party you will:
Directly support the Libertarian cause. We not take special interest money or government funds
Belong to a party that fights for your freedom on all issues
Have opportunities to meet other people who share your love for liberty and desire a better, more free, more prosperous Mississippi
Be a voting member at the State Convention
If you'd like to become a dues-paying member, we welcome you to help us grow our party and give liberty a voice. For just $25/yr, you can become an official Member of the Libertarian Party of MS. Click here to join.

People like you. The Libertarian Party is made up of people from all walks of life; people who used to be Republicans, Democrats, and independents. They joined because they realize that we're the only political party working in their best interests. No matter who you are, where you're form, what you enjoy or what you do for a living, there are Libertarians just like you. Those who join realize that, unlike the two major parties, we place your liberty and freedom above all else. While the Republican and Democrat Parties exist to maintain their own power, we exist to defend you rights and ensure that your a free to live a life you find fulfilling.
Are Libertarians liberal or conservative?
Neither. Unlike liberals and conservatives, Libertarians advocate a high degree of both personal and economic liberty. We advocate for lowering and eliminating taxes, slashing counter-productive regulation of businesses and charitable welfare. We are socially inclusive, believe that every person should be free to make his or her own choices so long as those choices do not infringe upon the rights of others, and oppose any law that seeks to control people's personal choices.
